Description (Service) COVID19  
Shelter Services - shelter is open and offering residential support to women at high risk because of gender based violence, as well as the 24-hour help line available to anyone in need. All intakes, risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy and transitional support will be offered via telephone, video conferencing or email. Counseling, groups, and children's programming are currently offered via telephone or video conferencing and are facilitated by staff working from home. Regular visits by community partners or any non essential visitor has been postponed through the duration of the pandemic. Cleaning and disinfecting procedures have increased, and appropriate measures to ensure safe food handling are being implemented.  
 
Second Stage Housing (SSH) Sites - All second stage sites (Exeter, Clinton, Goderich) are closed to visitors however residents supported via email, phone and video conferencing. Residents are aware of changes and additional signage indicating current protocols are posted. An empty unit at SSH has been designated as an emergency quarantine unit if needed.  
 
Service during COVID-19 - continue to provide critical services to women and their families through virtual intake, risk assessment, safety planning, system navigation and advocacy. Where risk is low, help a woman plan her next steps accessing natural supports that are safe, virtual supports, appropriate referrals and provision of available resources (such as gift cards). If upon intake a woman is considered high risk and in need of residential supports, we are committed to doing all we can to support her safely in a sheltered space.  
 
Second stage housing for women and children * victims of violence * rent-geared-to-income (RGI) apartments * secure building * women with or without children * units include fridge, stove * 1, 2, 3 bedroom(s) * on-site laundry * Rental agreements are available up to one year in length

Women who have identified themselves as survivors of abuse whether physical, emotional, sexual or verbal are eligible to apply.
Application Applicants must be either self-referred, residents of a shelter for abused women, or referred by a professional in the community. 
 
An interview is required to assess the applicant's needs and the ability to meet these needs; applications are then reviewed by the Admissions Committee. Upon acceptance to Second Stage Housing, women will be required to sign an occupancy contract.
Languages English ; For extenuating circumstances, translation service will be hired to accommodate clientele.
